Summary of the Position:
The SVP Finance and Accounting is responsible for leadership of the accounting and controller functions, financial reporting and analysis, and providing real-time insights to the CFO. This role contributes to the development and implementation of financial risk and process controls, financial reporting and analysis, and effecting the Bank’s business strategy and culture of strong financial / cost control and risk management. This role is responsible for all accounting activities, including direct responsibility for controller functions, SEC reporting and compliance. credit provisioning, processing of payroll, tax planning and accounting, and financial analysis. This position reports directly to the CFO of TriState Capital Bank and is a full time in-person role within the Pittsburgh headquarters for the Bank.
Primary Functions of the Position:
- Executes strategic initiatives to provide more meaningful and efficient financial data to management. Provides guidance and support in reviewing and analyzing monthly results and forecasts, including appropriate commentary to leadership. Highlights areas of concern and recommend improvement actions
- Assures the existence and competency of financial systems and procedures to comply with GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley requirements, and corporate policies and procedures to guarantee the integrity of financial reporting
- Responsible for the accuracy of the books and records in accordance with GAAP, SEC and regulatory requirements
- Supports and enables management with financial information, tools, and analysis
- Works across various departments to identify and correct data and reporting gaps
- Demonstrates ability to drive process improvements: detecting the need for change, proactively gathering requirements, designing and developing processes, implementing change, and stabilizing process changes to deliver on stakeholders’ critical requirements.
- Provides training, report building, and continuous support for financial systems
- Plans for changes to existing and new financial regulatory requirements to ensure compliance
- Provides finance support to projects throughout the organization
- Performs special analyses to support strategic business decision making, including financial analysis in support of strategic initiatives, capital investments, changing business models, acquisition activity, pricing models, etc.
- Improves quality and efficiency of accounting and reporting functions across the finance department
- Implements new accounting standards, initiatives, and technology to support the growing organization
- Develops continuous process improvement initiatives for the finance teams
- Plays a key role in budgeting, planning, and financial analysis
- Represents finance on key management committees and working groups
- Develops and manages key monthly financial processes to include month-end closing, forecasting and planning. Recommends, reviews, and provides input to leadership on changes to Financial Policies and Procedures. Leads the development of the strategic plan financials, annual profit plan and monthly closing and rolling forecasts
- Provides leadership to the finance department in recruiting and developing top talent. Coach, sponsor and mentor high potentials within the finance and accounting organization and support the Bank’s inclusive culture
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA required
- 7-10 years of successful accounting experience (banking experience preferred)
